Vermont

Had an unplanned trip to Vermont.

Kate and Jeremy were going out of town and

at the last minute needed someone to watch the kids.

It was a win win, they got to go out of town and I had prime time with the girls.

First up, we make cookies!

Lucy got a few books to read before bed. “Grammy, let’s get reading”
We read all six books, and we were just getting ready for bed. Gwen and Lucy wanted to sleep in The tent upstairs. All of a sudden all the smoke detectors go off. It is a bit loud😂. One detector speaks and tells us to get out of the house, tried to silence one and it was not working. The girls were a bit nervous. No smoke, but very loud. I called 911, told them all the smoke detectors were going off. They tell us to get out of the house, even if we go sit in a car. Faye had slept thru this whole thing. I wake her up and we go to the mud room to wait for the fire dept. A very nice man from the fire department came, checked the carbon monoxide level, checked the detectors and replaced a few batteries. We learned we need to replace batteries every six months and smoke detectors are good for 5 years. We learned about green lights and red lights. Lucy is taking it all in and following the fireman around, not missing a beat. The fireman tells me she talks a lot😂.
Very nice fire department.

He left, the house was quiet, it was 10:30 and the darlings were a bit rattled. Faye went back to bed. Gwen and Lucy are asleep on my floor. We talked about the nice people who help us.
Just got in to bed and the smoke detectors go off again.
I closed the room where the Girls were sleeping, they slept thru it.
I called 911 AGAIN, (wasn't sure what I could do by myself with 3 kids) a different fire man came, rechecked them and decided the detector in Faye's room was faulty. He disconnected it and all was quiet.

Now it is over, it was quite funny.
The girls are troopers. They will have a great story to tell.

The funny thing is earlier that day Lucy had found some photos on my phone of a time at work when someone got stuck in the elevator and the fire department came and opened the doors. Later she wanted to see the pics again and we talked about the fire department helping get the doors open.
They have had a good education on the merits of the fire dept.

Life is good ❤️

The next night, Gwen and Lucy told me they were sleeping in my bed with me.
In case the "house starts screaming again"
Love those girls

The next day was calm. We just enjoyed our time together.

Sunday Morning, they girls went downstairs and soon were screaming...
they ran upstairs and had seen a mouse.

We closed the door and stayed upstairs the rest of the time.
Had a fun tea party and other fun things.

We waited for Jeremy to come home and deal with the mouse.

Had a fun morning going out to breakfast with Katie before I left.
I always love my time in Vermont with that fun family.
Family time is the best time❤

Christmas

Christmas  was great, we had good treats, good food, games, time together and dogs wrestling:)

We did the traditional "Night before Christmas" and Faye won the biggest prize❤
We play virtual so all can participate, Faye was not even excited!

We combined The Giving Machine with our night before Christmas shopping gift exchange.
(Which we did after Christmas)
At the Giving Machine we bought Chickens, Soccer Gear, Dance Gear, Stem Kit, Water Jugs
All good stuff  for worthy causes!
They make it so fun and easy to donate.

Our gift exchange was fun and followed by a yummy dinner, just fun to have Riley & Steph in town.

Family Christmas Service Project

We purchased supplies and bags for the students,
so they would have what they need for Christmas Break.

Sam and I went to the school to deliver the bags and play games with the kids

Sam read them: How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

They loved the gloves ❤

The kids were so great!  What a great experience!

They gave us lots of hugs and high fives

and they sent us thank you notes!

Thank you Katelyn for letting us participate!

Thanksgiving in St George

Getting ready to go to St George for Thanksgiving.
The most important tradition is Pumpkin Waffles.
I measured out the spices at home before we left.

We took down bikes and rode the paths.

Mike and Sam hit the dirt paths and had a great time.

Did the traditional Thankful tree.

Found Gratitude journals to continue our gratitude all year.

We meet with extended family for yummy pie.

On Saturday we had family over for Pumpkin Waffles and the long weekend was complete.

I love Thanksgiving for the good food, the love, the gratitude and all the family time.
It is one of my favorite Holiday's.

We get to take some time to reflect on our lives, and to appreciate what we have,
who we are, and where we are right now.
And for that opportunity in and of itself, we are thankful.
